Florian Filippo, head of the French movement “Patriots”, ironically reacted to Ukraine’s dissatisfaction with the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to allow Russians to participate in the Paris Olympics. On this day, January 29, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the agency, such a reaction of the French politician was caused by the statement of the Ukrainian President Zelensky that he was disappointed with the position of the IOC and that now the National Olympic Committee will consider the possibility of a boycott of the Games.
“Zelensky is threatening that Ukraine will boycott the Olympics if Russian athletes are not banned from participating? Okay! Let him boycott! World sport will survive this!” Filippo wrote on his Twitter.
On January 25, the IOC Executive Committee called for the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status, while proposing not to allow athletes who actively supported the special operation in Ukraine.
The Paris Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
