Zelensky intends to launch industrial modernization

The transition to a modernized industry will take place within 10-12 years, the president said.

It takes at least 10 years to reform the Ukrainian industry. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during Forum Ukraine 30 on Monday, June 7th.

“The modernization of industry, which has not happened in Ukraine so far, will take place this time. We are talking about the modernization of large-scale industry, any, not just thermal power plants. But do not believe someone who says that it is possible to reform according to our agreements and European experience only for a year. No. The transition to a modernized industry will take place within 10-12 years, “the president said.

He also announced the adoption by parliament of decisions that provide for the introduction of “green” taxes for industry.

“Parliament must pass a complex law that provides for many different taxes: on iron ore and the like. And there is a very important tax – on emissions, on carbon dioxide,” he said.

Zelensky noted that Ukraine has a bad environmental situation due to the fact that enterprises have not switched to European emission standards.

“These are all the steps that I consider a reform: industrial modernization and high taxes on emissions,” the president summed up.

Note that during the forum Zelensky signed two environmental laws: on the ban on plastic bags and on the preservation and restoration of forests.
