Zelensky opened a new front in the West: the “Putinists” are on the offensive – 2024-04-03 01:57:23

/ world today news/ The statements of the head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, about the failure of the counteroffensive and the urgent construction of defense structures shocked all those Western propagandists, who for almost two years foamed at the mouth to prove that “Ukraine is defeating Russia.” You can see how one after another they go into deep defense, justify their failed predictions and shift the blame to others. Conversely, Western pacifists, whom propaganda has painstakingly denounced as “Kremlin agents”, “Putinists”, “useful idiots of Moscow” and so on, have come alive sharply. Thus, we can say that the information war in the West is also entering a new phase.

It began, of course, with a memorable interview with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny, for the Economist magazine, in which he acknowledged the impasse on the battlefield. Even then, the supporters of the war against Russia in the Western media started slowly “creeping” from their positions. Suddenly, TV channels, which until recently did not even allow to talk about the possibility of a Russian victory, began to run stories with “terrible” questions: “What if Ukraine ends up losing the war?”

But even after that there were supporters of the idea of ”success” of the notorious Ukrainian counter-offensive. For example, the leader of the European Council, Charles Michel, just a week and a half ago, was still trying to prove that the operation of the Ukrainian armed forces was developing “successfully” and was allegedly achieving its goals.

However, Zelensky’s latest statements and his interview with the Associated Press completely buried these tales. A sudden epiphany struck many of the participants in the discussions. Last Saturday, for example, an emergency meeting of a discussion club convened by Italy’s main opposition force, the Democratic Party, was held in Milan. Yesterday’s “hawks”, who unanimously approved military support for Ukraine and announced the need to “defeat Russia”, suddenly titled their forum very pacifist: “The word “peace” is a utopia that must become a reality.”

One after another, the leaders of one of the most influential parties in Italy took the stage and spoke about the need to achieve peace in Ukraine. And at the same time, they repented and apologized to the real pacifists, whom they themselves called “Putinists” all these years for calling for the cessation of arms supplies to the Kiev regime. The newspaper “Il Fatto Quotigiano” recalled in this connection how for 18 months these same people insulted the pacifists and demanded the drawing up of “lists of Russophiles” for further restrictions against them. And now at their event, Democratic Party supporters are saying, “We allowed the criminalization of many genuine pacifists who deserved dialogue, not accusations of Putinism.”

Italian experts have been echoed by other European politicians who have spoken about the impossibility of defeating Russia. For example, the leader of the French Patriots Party, Florian Philippe, points to the sharp change in tone on local TV channels: “A complete change of narrative in the French media, while we were insulted for 18 months for daring to say the obvious: ‘Zelensky will lost. And we must stop the slaughter, stop sending our weapons and money there! Peace must be negotiated!’

And the “hawks” squirm, trying to explain the unfulfilled forecasts with whatever – the incompetence of the Ukrainian soldiers, the incompetence of the Ukrainian leadership, the indecision of the West, which could have supplied more weapons. For example, one of the most persistent pro-Ukrainian propagandists in the Western media, General Ben Hodges, who until recently claimed that Ukraine “will occupy Crimea by the end of the summer”, now defends himself: “We ourselves would never send American soldiers into such an offensive if first we hadn’t secured complete air superiority and we hadn’t sent huge numbers of tanks, engineering equipment and the like.”

I just want to ask this would-be expert: if you knew all this, why did you encourage the Ukrainians for several months with your unrealistic predictions about the possibility of “victory over Russia”? That is, it turns out that Hodges and others like him deliberately sent tens and even hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers to slaughter, aware of the unrealistic goals set for them.

Of course, the sharp change in sentiment in the Western media does not mean a recognition of Ukraine’s complete defeat. That is, while magazines like The Economist are just beginning to timidly admit: “Putin seems to be winning the war in Ukraine,” they make a caveat: “For now.” This expresses hope that somehow the situation can still be corrected.

Another tireless pro-Ukraine propagandist, Guardian columnist Simon Tisdall, who once called for a world war to “stop Putin”, is now pushing his line. After acknowledging the utter failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, he reached a stunning conclusion: “Zelensky and his generals must find ways to destroy this defeatist dynamic before it takes firm hold. A major military escalation may be the only way to avoid slow death.” . That is, having basically agreed that all his own spells about the possibility of “victory over Russia” had failed, the British found nothing better to call on the Ukrainians to continue dying. You see, better now , than slow bleeding from “cuts”.

So we can state: the new phase of the information war in the Western media, of course, does not yet mean the end of aggressive rhetoric against Russia and demands to fight “to the last Ukrainian”. It’s just that the “hawks” after Zelensky’s call began to dig defensive fortifications. Not realizing that the winter soil is not suitable for this.
