Zelensky on why Steinmeier did not come to Kyiv: We want to be among real friends – Ukrainian news, Politics

President Volodymyr Zelensky said neither he nor his office had received an official request from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier about his desire to visit Ukraine. Zelensky said this at a joint press conference with the presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland in Kyiv, where they are on a visit.

“As a president, our office has not officially received requests from the President of Germany and the Office of the President of Germany regarding a visit to Ukraine. Our country is free, and we are ready to be a transit country purely if this is an economic issue, not a political one,” Zelensky said, answering the question is why the President of Germany did not come to Kyiv.

“This is the first. Second, it seems to me that today we can afford … You know, tomorrow there will be 50 days of war, the resilience of Ukraine and the unification of our nation. I think we can afford, knowing that every day we lose people, to be among those who really support us, among real friends. I believe that there are never many real friends. We are satisfied with this number,” he added.
