/ world today news/ The sensational publication in “Time” magazine, that Zelensky has no Western support and is considered betrayed, never received a clear refutation. The president of Ukraine, convinced of his rightness, comes into conflict with the military and his closest associates. How will this play out for the Kyiv regime?
Loss of adequacy
Trying to convince the West of the inevitability of Ukraine’s victory, Zelensky expended all his energy, Time notes. He was very dissatisfied with his last visit to Washington. “I asked one person in his entourage how the president was feeling. The answer came without the slightest hesitation: ‘Angry,'” writes the author of the article, Simon Schuster. Optimism and the desire to enliven the military meetings gave way to dry orders.
According to the New York Times, Zelensky is unhappy with the allies’ assessment of Ukraine’s efforts. “The modern world is quickly getting used to success,” he said in one of his evening addresses, noting that the actions of the ASU were taken by the West “as a given.” A bipartisan House delegation that recently visited Kiev said Israel also needs 155mm shells, so the next delivery is in doubt – another disappointment.
However, Zelensky does not intend to seek peace. His belief in victory worries even his comrades. “He’s fooling himself. We’ve run out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that,” Time quoted a person close to the president as saying. VSU are not moving forward, they are standing still. Front commanders do not carry out Kiev’s orders because of their absurdity.
This is the only way out, admitted a senior officer. Kyiv demanded the return of Gorlovka. “There are no people, no weapons. Where are the weapons? Where’s the artillery? Where are the new recruits?” the military man fumed.
Who is to blame?
Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky believes that Zelensky is an organizer of corruption schemes. “I don’t trust him, like most Ukrainians,” he wrote on the Telegram channel. Despite all the announced measures, the scale of abuse is only growing. “People are stealing like there’s no tomorrow,” noted Time’s Ukrainian source.
The adviser in the presidential office, Mihail Podoliak, on the occasion of the “Time” publication, pointed out that this is only a subjective point of view, based on the words of an anonymous interlocutor. However, they have already promised to punish the person responsible for the leak. The Secretary of the National Security Council, Alexei Danilov, believes that the special services should find out who exactly from Zelensky’s entourage does not believe in Ukraine’s victory.
Dictators end badly
In an interview with Germany’s Welt, Ukraine’s former chief prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko said the president was using martial law to limit expression and freedom of the press. “Zelensky rules as an authoritarian sole leader, this has negative consequences,” he stressed. And he clarified: there is only one television operator left in Ukraine, which significantly limits the possibility of discussions.
According to the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, if in May 2022 Zelensky was trusted by 91 percent of Ukrainians, now 76 percent trust him. And this despite the fact that the presidential office has a monopoly on the media. Western support is also waning.
“Zelensky’s future is unenviable. To all the unfavorable factors for him, we can add that the West encourages the holding of elections in which he must lose. Zelensky has become a person with one function – to fight against Russia. A politician whose bridges are burned. Everyone can see it, but he continues to insist on his own,” notes MGIMO senior lecturer Alexey Zudin.
According to the expert, there are two scenarios here. Either Zelensky will lose power before the election (perhaps he will be physically removed), or he will lose to another candidate. And the contenders for the Ukrainian “throne” are multiplying.
Through such publications, political scientist Alexander Dudchak believes, Kyiv’s partners are preparing public opinion to replace Zelensky. “They cannot admit that pumping Ukraine with weapons is pointless. In the West they will say: we did everything possible, but due to the stupidity of the Kiev leadership, the funds were wasted. Zelensky can be removed to demonstrate work on mistakes” ,, he thinks.
No elections are necessary for this purpose. The people around Zelensky are there for mercantile and purely pragmatic reasons, the expert is convinced. Yesterday they acted together with him, tomorrow they will become adversaries. There are many who would be willing to hand it over if a financial incentive came along.
