Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The war between Russia and Ukraine has entered its 10th month updateshe, new things have happened.
Among them is Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who is leaving the country. He will visit Washington, United States (USA), this Wednesday (12/21/2022).
This is Zelensky’s first trip to leave his war-torn country. His visit was nothing more than collecting more and more aid to Ukraine.
“US President Joe Biden will host Zelenskyy at the White House, where they will have a meeting Wednesday afternoon,” the senior administration official said. CNBC International.
“There will be a press conference after the meeting. Zelenskyy is expected to address a joint session of Congress and will hold various other bilateral meetings,” he added.
The senior administration official also told reporters that Biden would announce a nearly $2 billion security aid package for Ukraine. Including the Patriot missile system that Russia has warned about.
“The meeting will focus on strengthening Ukraine’s resilience and defense capabilities,” Zelensky said in a tweet Wednesday morning.
Zelensky’s visit to the United States comes just hours after he made an unannounced trip to the eastern Ukraine town of Bakhmut on Tuesday. There he meets Kiev soldiers trapped in war months.
“Bakhmut’s fortress. Our people. Invincible for the enemy. Who with his courage proved that we will survive and will not give up what is ours,” said Zelensky.
“I am proud of the gratitude for the courage, tenacity and strength shown in repelling enemy attacks,” he said.
