Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is convinced that only after direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin will it be possible to end the war. He said this in an interview with Bild.
Asked what he would say in response to the demand for Donbass’s independence and recognition that Crimea is Russian in the name of peace, Zelensky said: “The question here is not what I can give.”
Zelensky is convinced that the war can be stopped only after a direct dialogue with the President of the Russian Federation on the basis of mutual compromise.
“In every negotiation, my goal is to end the war with Russia. And I am also ready to take certain steps. You can make compromises, but they must not be a betrayal of the homeland. The other side must also be willing to compromise.
“This is the only way out of this situation. We still can’t talk about the details. We still haven’t had direct contact between the presidents. Only after direct talks between the two presidents can we end this war,” he said. .
