Zelensky introduced sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry

President Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry.

Direct speech: “Today there is another sanction step by our state against a terrorist state. The decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry has been put into effect.

This is not the last decision in this industry. The meaning of our steps is also to support the efforts of our diplomats to expand global sanctions on this part of the Russian machine of aggression.”

Details: As Zelensky noted, Russia is the only state in the world that allows its military to shell nuclear power plants and use nuclear power plants as cover for shelling. He recalled that Russian missiles repeatedly followed trajectories over Ukraine’s nuclear facilities.

“Also, the terrorist state uses the nuclear industry as one of the elements of external expansion to put pressure on other states, to create appropriate threats to the sovereignty of other states. All these are sufficient reasons for Russia’s nuclear industry to be under global sanctions. And we are working on this with our partners,” he said.

A list of 200 legal entitiessubject to sanctions for a period of 50 years.

Among them are the Russian state corporation for atomic energy “Rosatom”, its subsidiaries, a number of institutes and research centers, plants, as well as the Russian joint-stock company “Operating organization of the Zaporizhzhya NPP”.
