According to the President of Ukraine, two documents are needed to conclude a truce. One of them may relate to Kyiv’s security guarantees, and the other to its relations with Moscow.
The peace treaty between Kyiv and Moscow may consist of two separate documents, said Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with Ukrainian media.
“One of them should relate to security guarantees for Ukraine, and the other – directly to relations with the Russian Federation,” the head of state was quoted as saying by Ukrainskaya Pravda.
Russia wants everything to be in one document that covers all these issues, Zelensky said.
“However, no one sees themselves at the table with the Russian Federation. For them, security guarantees for Ukraine are one issue, and agreements with the Russian Federation are another, “said the Ukrainian president. According to him, circumstances are changing and people “saw what happened in Bucha”.
Earlier, Zelenski named the United States, Britain, Turkey, Poland, Germany, France and Israel as potential security guarantors.
After the start of the military operation in Ukraine on February 24, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations held several rounds of talks, the last face-to-face meeting took place on March 29 in Istanbul. Kyiv handed over written proposals to Moscow to resolve the situation, the Russian side after the meeting reduced military activity in Kiev and Chernihiv.
