Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Istanbul, as part of the meeting he will have with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
This is the second visit of the Ukrainian president to Turkey since Russia launched its attack on Ukraine.
Zelensky’s office has said earlier that among the issues to be discussed are a possible peace proposal in Ukraine, as well as the safety of navigation in the Black Sea and the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war held by Russia.
At the same time, Turkey is expected to emphasize its continued support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as stated by a Turkish diplomatic source cited by the Jerusalem Post.
Zelensky is also expected to visit the shipyard where corvettes are built for the Ukrainian Navy and meet with representatives of Turkish defense companies, according to the Kyiv Independent website.
The bilateral relations between Turkey and Ukraine will also be on the agenda of the talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Volodymyr Zelensky.
Turkey, among other things, supplies Kiev with Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles, while recently the managing director of the manufacturing company Baykar, Haluk Bayraktar, stated that an unmanned aerial vehicle production plant is being built in Ukraine, which is expected to be put into operation in a time.
It is recalled that the last rounds of the unsuccessful peace talks between Kiev and Moscow in 2022 took place in the Turkish city of Antalya. Maintaining close ties with both Moscow and Kiev, Ankara sought to position itself as a mediator in the war.
