President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky gave an interview to the Nieuwsuur project of the Dutch TV channel NOS. During the conversation, the head of state answered questions about the war, the return of Crimea and Donbass, negotiations with Putin, and also told why he is convinced that there will be no coup d’état in Russia and shared how he is going through separation from his children.

There will be no coup in Russia

Vladimir Zelensky is convinced that the Kremlin elite is afraid of Putin, because all members of the Russian dictator’s team are connected by many crimes. For this reason, it is not necessary to hope that a coup d’état will happen in Russia and the Putin regime will sink into oblivion.

“I think this whole team has been working for many years and they are held together. They are connected by many things, many steps, many crimes – at least we consider these crimes, what is happening against us. And they are united. I I’m not sure about Putin’s regime change right now. I think they are all afraid of him,” the president said in an interview with the TV channel NOS.

It is important to return to the borders on February 24

Answering a journalist’s question about what the president’s expectations are from the war, how it will end, Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that he is convinced of Ukraine’s victory. The only question is at what cost it will happen and when.

“For me, victory is the renewal of the territorial value of all territories. I don’t think that we can do it exclusively by military means. Otherwise, we will lose hundreds of thousands of people. As Russia is doing now, it is losing tens of thousands of people,” Zelensky said. The President added that every Ukrainian wants Ukraine to return Crimea and Donbass, but this must happen through diplomacy.

“At least we must return to the borders on February 24, from which the war began, and then we can defend our territories through diplomacy,” the guarantor said.

According to Zelensky, we can fight the Russian Federation, but not to the last person.

“If they don’t care, then it doesn’t matter to me. If we return to the borders on the 24th, I’m sure that Russia will sit down at the negotiating table. We are not ready to give up either Crimea or Donbass to the Russian Federation, and we will never recognize them,” summed up Zelensky.

In Russia, there is no one to negotiate with

“On what terms do you want personal talks with Putin?” a Dutch journalist asked Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The question is not that I want to negotiate with Putin, the question is that there is no one to negotiate with. He built a camp where no one decides anything. Neither the negotiating group, nor the Foreign Minister is important, all these people are nobody, unfortunately” the president said.

Many switched to Ukrainian

After all that Russia has done, do you want to speak Russian? the journalist Volodymyr Zelensky asked. The President replied that he could speak any language he knew, but indeed, since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, many Russian-speaking Ukrainians switched to Ukrainian.

“It’s true, after the start of the invasion, many Ukrainians, especially those who spoke Russian, because the destruction of cities was exactly where the majority speak Russian, switched to Ukrainian. There is hatred for what the Russian troops did. And everything, what is connected with them. But there is no ban on any language, including Russian, in our country,” the president explained.

You need to be an example for children

Volodymyr Zelensky recalled that on the day the full-scale war began, on the morning of February 24, his children woke up from rocket attacks. At that time, the president already knew what was happening and was going to work. After that, they did not see each other for months.

“I didn’t even have time to say anything to them. They woke up in the morning from rocket attacks, they heard them. I was already assembled, I already knew that the war had begun. I left at 4 in the morning for work. And after that we didn’t see each other for months ” Zelensky said.

The President emphasized that one must be an example for one’s children, both in war and in life.

“We need to show our children that there can be any position in life, except for a treacherous one,” the guarantor emphasized.
