Zelensky dismissed the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine – Abroad – News – TVNET

Notices about these orders are also posted in the official of the president Homepage.

In place of Venediktova, Oleksiy Simonenko has been appointed as the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, who was the Deputy Prosecutor General since March 2020, but Bakanov’s successor as the head of the Security Service of Ukraine is not yet known.

Bakanovs was the head of the Security Service since 2019, while Venediktova was appointed to the position of Prosecutor General in 2020.

In a nightly video call, Zelenskiy explained that so far 651 criminal cases for treason and collaboration have been initiated against employees of the prosecutor’s office, pre-trial investigation and other law-enforcement institutions.

He said that more than 60 employees of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Security Service chose to stay in the territories occupied by Russia and “work against our country”, so there are questions about the responsibility of the heads of these institutions.

Since the beginning of the comprehensive Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the replacement of the highest-ranking officials has been a rarity.

As UNIAN reminds, Zelensky previously reacted sharply to the statements of the mayor of Ivanofrankivsk, who said that Russian forces can carry out powerful missile strikes on Ukraine. The President of Ukraine, reacting to these statements, called on people to critically evaluate the information, as well as to be cautious, not to believe everything that Russia is trying to tell.
