Jewish Ukrainians and Russians move to Israel
The past period Hundreds of Jewish Ukrainians Fled to Israel† Those who have at least one Jewish grandparent are welcome in the country and can obtain Israeli nationality. Under a 1950 Israeli law, people of Jewish background have the right to settle in Israel.
In total, Ukraine has an estimated 200,000 inhabitants who can thus claim Israeli citizenship. Also over half a million Russians are thus eligible for an Israeli passport.
