Zelensky Claims Ukrainian Troops Destroyed 1,000 Russian Tanks and 2,500 Armored Vehicles

TRIBUNNEWS.COMUkrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskysaid the Ukrainian army had destroyed more than 1,000 Russian tanks, nearly 200 Russian aircraft and nearly 2,500 armored fighting vehicles.

Despite these losses, Russian forces still have the equipment to launch additional attacks, Zelensky said.

“Of course, the residents still have supplies of equipment. Yes, they still have missiles to attack our territory,” he added.

“But this war has weakened the Russians so they have to plan (have) less military equipment for the parade in Moscow,” he said CNN.

On May 9, Russia plans to hold a Victory Day parade on Red Square to commemorate Germany’s surrender to the Soviet Union in World War II.

The Ukrainian president also said Russia had lost more than 23,000 troops since the invasion began, but this claim could not be independently verified.

Russia separately released a low casualty figure, which observers deemed too small.

Two days before the Russian casualty update, two senior NATO military officials estimated the number of Russian soldiers killed in the war in Ukraine at between 7,000 and 15,000.

At the same time, other US officials estimate Russian losses in the same range of between 7,000 and 14,000 Russian soldiers killed.

Earlier this month, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov briefly acknowledged that Russia had suffered “significant” losses from its troops in Ukraine.
