Volodymyr Zelensky and Olaf Scholz had an urgent conversation.
The Ukrainian president announced today that in a telephone conversation he informed the German chancellor Olaf Scholz about the situation at the front after the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region in Russia, Reuters reported, as quoted by BTA.
The two also discussed the need for air defense and armored vehicles.
During the conversation, Scholz again assured the Ukrainian president of his “continued and unwavering solidarity” with the warring people, a spokeswoman for the German government said.
Scholz made the announcement amid his government’s plans to cut the bilateral military aid budget for Kiev next year.
“The chancellor reaffirmed Germany’s constant and unwavering solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russia’s continued aggression. President Zelensky thanked the federal government for continued military support, especially in air defense,” the chancellor’s office said in a statement about the conversation held on Ukraine’s Independence Day celebrations.
