The President stressed that every Ukrainian family has lost something, and they are unlikely to be satisfied with the world on any terms.
Peace with Russia can be on Ukrainian terms, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an April 10 interview with AP.
If Ukraine has the opportunity to resolve the issue of ending the war through diplomacy, it should not be missed, Zelensky said.
“People want this war to end. On our terms, on the terms of independence, on the terms of Ukraine,” the president said.
He stressed that every Ukrainian family has lost something, and they are unlikely to be satisfied with the world on any terms.
“But we must understand that any war must end in peace… Even where there are millions of victims, everything comes to peace,” Zelensky said.
The President also said that if Mariupol is surrendered, Ukraine will have a weaker position. The stronger the position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Mariupol, the stronger its position in the east of the country as a whole and at the negotiating table, he noted.
Zelensky also added that the defeat of Ukraine in the east would mean that Russia could re-enter the territories that have now returned under the control of Ukrainian troops.
Earlier, Zelensky said that fails to predict developments in eastern Ukraine.
The Office of the President said that Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine has already begun. As the General Staff reported in the morning, Russian troops tried to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Izyum Kharkov region and establish control over Mariupol.
