Russia has canceled the previously existing age restrictions for military service under the contract and now people over 40 years old will be recruited into the Russian army.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the decision of the Russian authorities to hire people over 40 years old under the contract. In particular, the Ukrainian leader on Wednesday, May 25, in his video message, pointed out that the desire to fight among the Russians had not yet disappeared.

“The Russian authorities made a significant decision – they allowed older people to be hired for contract service. That is, they no longer have enough young people, but the desire to fight still remains. It still takes time to discourage this desire from them,” the head of our state said.

At the same time, the president said that sometimes the enemy prevails in the amount of equipment and military force.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine, our intelligence and everyone who defends the state, are resisting the most brutal offensive of Russian troops in the east. In some places, the enemy strongly prevails – in equipment, in the number of soldiers,” Zelensky said.

He also stressed that the help of partners is still needed, primarily with weapons for Ukraine.

Previously, the OPU stated that freezing the conflict in Ukraine out of the question.
