Zelensky appoints deputy commander of the National Guard

President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Major General Oleg Sakhon as Deputy Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Details: The decree appointing Sakhon appeared on the President’s website on March 9.

Sahon served as head of the Eastern Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard. He participated in the defense of Kharkov from Russian invaders in 2022.

In 2020, the President awarded Sahon military rank major general.

In 2017, while in the area of ​​the ATO in eastern Ukraine, in cooperation with the SBU and counter-sabotage forces, he participated in a successful special operation in the area of ​​​​the settlements of Novozvanovka and Troitskoe. As a result, the units of the National Guard detained 28 people who were directly related to illegal armed groups, two militants who resisted were killed.

The major general was awarded state awards: the medal “For Impeccable Service” III degree, the Order of Daniil Galitsky and the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky III degree.
