Zelensky and Erdogan discussed evacuation from Mariupol and security guarantees

It is reported that the parties discussed the situation in Ukraine and the negotiation process. In particular, Erdogan announced the need to evacuate the wounded and civilians of Mariupol.

“President Erdogan said he is also positively considering becoming a security guarantor for Ukraine,” the statement said.

It is also reported that Erdogan will have a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming hours.

According to Zelensky on his Twitter, the telephone conversation was important in the context of Erdogan’s future contact with Putin.

“We discussed the progress of the negotiation process, the agreement with Turkey and other countries of security guarantees for Ukraine. We touched upon issues related to the defense capability of Ukraine, as well as global food security that is under threat due to the blocking of shipping in the Black Sea,” he added.
