President Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskymentions Russia as the Devil who has returned while giving a speech commemorating the victory in World War II which is also Russia’s Victory Day.
Russia commemorates Victory Day over Nazi Germany on May 9.
In the speech, Zelensky compared the Russian invasion to Nazi Germany. According to him, darkness has enveloped Ukraine again since World War II ended several decades ago.
“Decades after World War II, darkness has returned to Ukraine and has become black and white again,” Zelensky said in a video speech.
“The devil has returned, in a different uniform, under a different slogan, but for the same purpose,” continued Zelensky.
The Ukrainian leader accused Russia of implementing a “bloody reconstruction of Nazism” in his country using Nazi ideas, words and symbols.
He said Moscow troops imitated Nazi atrocities and justified their crimes under the pretext of a sacred cause.
Zelensky also compared Russia’s attacks on his country’s urban centers with attacks in European countries such as Britain, France, and the Netherlands when the Nazis attacked.
According to him, the attacks experienced by Ukraine are no different from those experienced by cities in Europe during the Nazi era.
Meanwhile, in late February, Moscow claimed its operations in Ukraine as a “denazification” of the country.
Both Ukraine and Russia have likened the actions of enemy soldiers to those of Nazi Germany.
In a speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed that Russia would win the war in Ukraine just as it did in 1945.
He said this to congratulate the ex-Soviet countries in commemorating the 77th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany.
