Zelensky Admits: Ukraine Can’t Recapture Lost Territories – Calls for Negotiations –

Ukraine does not have the military capacity to retake all the territory Russia seized since 2014, President Volodymyr Zelensky has acknowledged, calling on the West to take stronger action to confront Moscow.

In an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien, Mr. Zelensky made it clear that Kiev would not formally recognize Russian control over any Ukrainian territory.

“Legally, we cannot surrender our lands. This is prohibited by the constitution.” said the Ukrainian president. “But let’s not use such big words. Russia actually controls a part of our territory today.”

At the same time, he asked his Western partners to put more pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to bring him to the negotiating table. “If today we don’t have the strength to win back all our territories, maybe the West will find the strength to put Putin in his place… at the table and deal with this war diplomatically.” he said.

Peace wanted

“We need unity between the EU and the US to achieve peace in Ukraine,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attending the European Council in Brussels.

“Unity between the EU, its member states and the US is very important to achieve peace. Together, the US and Europe, can stop Putin and save Ukraine.” Zelensky stated and added: “It’s hard to support Ukraine without America’s help”. This, he said, he will discuss with President Trump when he takes office.

The B. Zelensky said he is coming to ask for more support from the Europeans. As he pointed out, the priority for Ukraine is the protection of the energy sector, specifically the protection of 13 nuclear facilities, as well as gas centers. Second, he said that Ukraine should double or increase as much as possible, its domestic production of weapons, and third, he stressed the urgent need for help in the country’s education system.

The Europeans want to ensure that Ukraine is in a position of strength when peace negotiations begin. In their conclusions on Ukraine, European leaders pledge at least 30 billion in financial aid to Ukraine in 2025, most of which is earmarked for the purchase of arms.

The work of the Synod begins today at 11.30 am. (Greece time), on the subject of Ukraine.
