This happened in a telephone conversation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with US counterpart Joe Biden to discuss financial support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.

“As part of the ongoing dialogue, I had another conversation with Biden. The agenda included security issues, financial support for Ukraine and the continuation of sanctions against Russia, “Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

In the half-hour conversation, Biden outlined the steps his administration and allies have taken “to increase sanctions on Russia for its aggression in Ukraine,” the White House said.

Biden also stressed the efforts of private companies to freeze their work in Moscow by suspending operations after the February 24 invasion.

Hours earlier, the Ukrainian leader addressed US lawmakers in a video calling for further assistance to Ukraine and asking the United States to include Russian oil imports in the sanctions list.

U.S. lawmakers have pledged an additional $ 10 billion aid package, but the White House has so far ruled out a ban on oil, fearing it would raise prices and hurt U.S. consumers, who are already suffering from record inflation.

Last week, Washington donated $ 350 million for military equipment to Kyiv, the largest such package in US history.
