A copy of The Legend of Zelda from 1987 has been sold at auction for a fantasy sum of as much as 870,000 dollars (approximately 7.5 million Swedish kronor). The auction of the Zelda game is thus the most expensive video game sold at an auction ever. The previous record was held by one Super Mario Bros-original from 1986 which sold for $ 660,000.
Before you start looking around in the cabinets for your own gold cassette, it should be mentioned that the Zelda cassette that was sold was both unopened and unplayed.
