/ world today news/ The famous baroque violinist Zefira Valova received the “Musician of the Year – 2017” award for “active creative activity” in the ranking of the program “Allegro vivache” of the BNR, the official ceremony of which was this evening. The award was presented to her personally by the legend Teodosi Spasov.
“Thank you for this distinction. It encourages me and it encourages an expanding community of young musicians hungry and thirsty to understand exactly how 17th and 18th century music was performed, under what conditions it was created and on what instruments”, Zefira Valova addressed the audience. She added that for decades her goal has been to dig in one direction – to try as a performer and as a musicologist, manager and organizer to promote the performance of baroque music on original instruments, the way the composers imagined it.
The organizers recalled that in 2008 Zefira was among the nominations for “young musician of the year”, and in 2010 she was awarded “musical project of the year” as the founder and artistic director of the “Baroque Art” festival.
Opera singer Maria Tsvetkova became the winner of the “Musician of the Year 2017” poll. In other categories, the young conductor Inna Dilovska, the duo Nadezhda Tsanova – piano and Petar Makedonski – trumpet, the pianist Ivo Varbanov and the composer Georgi Arnaudov also received awards.
The listeners honored the composer and sound director in BNR Miroslav Danev posthumously for his entire work.
