The mayor confirmed his position that he will invite the property owners to a meeting to say what their intentions are
Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov starts negotiations for 80 decaries of green areas near the Grebnia canal. With his post on Facebook published today, he reiterated his position, announced a few days ago, that he will invite the owners of the property to a meeting to say what their intentions are. The reason is the protests of citizens in defense of greenery.
“I have issued an order to form a committee of experts and city councilors to negotiate with the owners of the nearly 80-decade disputed land in the Recreational and Cultural Park.” Already last week I announced publicly that I will start a meeting with them to find the most reasonable solution for the benefit of citizens. I will always seek public consensus on issues that are important to the people of Plovdiv,” explains Zdravko Dimitrov.
Dani Kanazireva and the municipal councilors of the “Union for Plovdiv” have already submitted to the vote of the local parliament a proposal for the acquisition of the property in favor of the municipality of Plovdiv. They strongly believe that the green spaces, which have been privately owned since 2002, should be set aside for public use for a park and suggest forming a commission with representatives from all groups in the City Council.
The proposal will be examined at the next session in January.
