The mayor of the Chepelar village of Zabardo, Zdravka Cherpokova – Ilieva, resigned. The municipal election commission has accepted the resignation, and her powers have been terminated ahead of schedule. She indicated that family reasons prevented her from fulfilling her duties.
Municipal council in Chepelare will elect an acting mayor of Zabardo until partial elections are held in the Rhodope village.
The Central Election Commission has already been notified, which must make a proposal to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria to schedule a partial election.
Zdravka Cherpokova is the daughter of the long-time mayor of Zabardo, Valentin Cherpokov. He was a candidate for mayor of the municipality of Chepelare from “BSP for Bulgaria” in the elections in October this year, he recalls “24 hours”.
