ZDF Presenter Andrea Kiewel Accuses ARD Colleagues of Spreading Terrorist Propaganda and Describes Life in Israel Amidst Rocket Alarms and Fear

Andrea Kiewel is outraged – and the “Tagesschau” is the reason. The ZDF presenter accuses her ARD colleagues of spreading terrorist propaganda. She also gives another insight into her current life in Israel, which is dominated by rocket alarms and fear.

The presenter Andrea Kiewel (58) criticized her ARD colleagues in the “Tagesschau” with clear words. She wrote in a guest article for the “Jüdische Allgemeine”.that those responsible for ARD’s main news programs were “deaf to all ears” when they reported on the alleged Israeli attack on a hospital in Gaza.

She cannot speak of colleagues in this context, although she is an ardent supporter of the need for public television: “How on earth can the editorial team of the most important and best-known news program on German television use terrorist propaganda as a source “How on earth can anyone take a single letter from the mouth of a brutal terrorist organization at face value?”

In her opinion, at the time the “Tagesschau” and “Tagesthemen” were broadcast, there were already voices from experts, secret services and independent sources who questioned Hamas’ claims. “I don’t accuse anyone of bad intentions. I also don’t accuse anyone of being naive,” said Kiewel. She expects the “crème de la crème of political journalists” to work at ARD. And if that’s the case, they should write behind their ears: “Terrorists, butchers, murderers, beasts, hostage takers are not sources. Never!” That’s not a request, but an attitude, a credo: “That’s exactly what it’s all about now.”

Andrea Kiewel: “I want to be brave. And I’m not.”

After an explosion at al-Ahli Arab Hospital, authorities in Gaza, under Hamas control, initially announced that an Israeli airstrike had hit the clinic, leaving hundreds dead. Doubts quickly arose. However, both Israel and independent observers assume that a misguided rocket fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel probably hit a parking lot in front of the clinic. Accordingly, there are said to have been fewer victims there than was initially reported.

Andrea Kiewel moved her life to Tel-Aviv many years ago. She is Jewish and has been in a relationship with an Israeli for many years. She writes about her current private situation in her post: “I’ve stopped counting the rocket attacks. I run into the shelter, press the microphone on my cell phone and send the sound of the siren to my family.” She wants her loved ones to know what will happen if something happens.

There she prays and sings: “My voice in the little bunker without a door should be louder than the alarm. I want to be brave. Brave. And I’m not. Tears. Tears.” Two weeks ago, before Hamas’ massacre of Israeli civilians with at least 1,400 deaths, 4,100 injuries and more than 200 people abducted by Hamas, was their last happy day.
