New York Islanders hockey players won Saturday’s NHL overseas match over St. Louis Blues 2: 1. The home team led after goals by Oliver Wahlstrom and Brock Nelson 2: 0, the guests only managed to reduce thanks to Robert Thomas.
Before the meeting, the home club congratulated Zden Chár on his milestone. A week ago, the Slovak veteran started his 1652nd duel in the basic part and set a new league record in the number of matches played between the defenders, when he overcame the legendary Chris Chelios (1651).
Chára is currently suffering from an upper body injury for which he missed the previous three matches. He didn’t even play against the Blues, the “islanders” retroactively put him on the list of injured players before the match.
Before the match, the Islanders prepared a short ceremony for him, honored him with a special video on the dice, and the entire team congratulated him on the ice.
