Zbrojovka Brno has not started the new season according to their expectations, as they currently sit in fifth place in the second division table with a five-point deficit. The discussions surrounding the team have had a peculiar atmosphere, as both sides have been critical. “No one has asked for our opinion in a long time,” noted one supporter. MF DNES has selected four key topics that were discussed at the Srbský stadium yesterday.
The first topic discussed was the future location of the team. The director of the Portiva group, Pavel Svore, revealed in recent interviews that the realistic option for the club is to stay at Srbský and negotiate the construction of a new stadium at Výstaviště. “We don’t want to deceive the fans with empty promises. We would love to stay at Líšeň. We will do everything we can, but we are not the only ones involved. There are other players, the city, and other entities with their own interests,” explained Svore.
Svore’s vision leans towards the possibility of building a new stadium at Výstaviště, but he considers it a distant future and believes that the city of Brno will play a crucial role in the decision. “The city will have to be a key player in the construction. Our group has experience in building and managing properties. Hypothetically, we could participate in the construction, but we would also need to contribute to the surrounding infrastructure,” added the company manager, who oversees a shopping center in Kladno.
The second topic discussed was the team’s lack of cohesion. The main creator of the team, sports manager Zdeněk Psotka, admitted that the team is not playing well together. He promises several changes in both directions. “After the fourth round, I said that I want to get five players out and bring five in. That still stands. Moreover, there is still plenty of time until the 8th round, when the transfer window closes. Currently, contacted players are waiting for offers from top league teams before negotiating with us,” explained Psotka.
Coach Luděk Klusák advises his colleague to focus on defensive reinforcements, while Psotka’s main concern is finding a new playmaker. “We are looking for a player who can control the game, who speaks Czech, who can lead and motivate others, and keep their head up,” stated the manager.
The third topic discussed was the acquisition of the club by the Portiva group. Concerned Zbrojovka fans wanted to know if the acquisition plan was certain, as an article on the Portiva website stated that the group has not yet entered Zbrojovka and is only associated with Svoreň. “Our company mainly operates in the fund sector, where we are heavily regulated. Portiva will become the final owner of the club, but technically, it was easier for me to act on behalf of the club initially. After announcing the acquisition plan, regulatory authorities questioned whether everything would be in order from a financial and business perspective,” revealed Svoreň.
However, he assured that there is no threat to the agreement. ”I cannot imagine anything that would jeopardize the acquisition. We are currently conducting an audit to have a detailed understanding of the club’s situation. Portiva will become the definitive owner of the club at the start of the spring part of the league,” Svoreň confirmed.
The final topic discussed was the team’s ambition to become a regional brand. The panel members unanimously agreed that the Brno team should become synonymous with football excellence in Moravia. However, the team’s active cooperation with other clubs in the region has been challenging. “I have spoken to all the clubs in Brno and the surrounding area. We have discussed their desired role in the regional club hierarchy, their goals, and we have found common interests that we want to develop in the future,” said Psotka.
Psotka also wants to focus on building relationships with talented youth players who have left Brno in recent years due to a lack of playing opportunities and a perceived lack of ambition. “Brno has gradually become an unattractive destination. When I arrived, I encountered a problem that I did not expect. Many people had a negative attitude towards the club, and I don’t blame them. We need to change the perception that Zbrojovka is not interested in young players, but it won’t happen overnight,” emphasized the manager.
In conclusion, the team’s current situation and future plans were discussed at the Srbský stadium. The team aims to improve their performance, negotiate a new stadium, make necessary transfers, finalize the acquisition by the Portiva group, and establish themselves as a regional football brand.

What specific areas of improvement in defense and offense does the team need to focus on to meet expectations
The performance of the team on the field. Both Psotka and Klusák acknowledged that the team has not met expectations so far this season. Psotka emphasized the need for improvements in both defense and offense, while Klusák stressed the importance of cohesion and team chemistry. “We need to work harder, communicate better, and find a way to get back on track,” said Klusák.
Overall, the discussions at Srbský stadium highlighted the challenges faced by Zbrojovka Brno. From the uncertain future location of the team to the need for roster changes and improved performance, there are several areas that need attention. However, the Portiva group remains committed to the club and is determined to make the necessary changes to ensure future success.
