Always in eyeglasses and eyeglasses to give the impression of a true English gentleman. Miro Žbirka did not give up the years of style he built even after he no longer had to wear diopters. The legend of Czechoslovak pop music thus led fans by the nose in the last year of their lives.
Žbirka started wearing glasses when he was a 17-year-old, and his hallmarks remained, except for a short break in the 1980s, until his death. Distinctive hoops were an integral part of the singer. And he didn’t get mad at them even after eye surgery.
He went for a laser in February this year. Meky’s fans didn’t have a chance to notice anything because he decided to keep wearing his glasses. “Thanks to Mr. Novák, I see primary as an eagle today. I could put off my glasses, but it’s such an image,” admitted Žbirka according to the portal topky.sk.
The singer boasted a stunning collection of rims, never throwing away any glasses. He made an exception only for charity, donating several of them to a charity project to help children.
“I have quite a few. You could say they’re typical of me. I’ve never given any away. Only on this occasion.” he declared. He wore pilots most often, but he wasn’t afraid of thick black rims either.
Miroslav Zbirka died in his hospital asleep on Wednesday, November 10, at the age of 69. He succumbed to repeated pneumonia, ending up in drips a month ago, but then returned home for a few weeks.
His most famous hits include White Flower, Atlantis, 22 Days, What Hurts, It Hurts, In Dead Ends, The First or The Ballad of the Wild Birds.
A place of reverence was created in front of Meky Žbirka’s house:
