The miner in Zápey pulls. “I can see how our phones have been ringing for the last few days,” Mašek smiles. He estimates that around four hundred to five hundred tickets have been sold so far. The Central Bohemians are ready for the onslaught of the fans of the Ostrava club. “We also communicate with Baník. From what we have information, one hundred to two hundred supporters could come from Ostrava. But we expect that even more Baník fans will arrive, because some of them work in Prague,” notes Secretary Záp.
As soon as the repeated draw of the MOL Cup awarded him the traditional league mark, the ČFL participant began to prepare. “We had a lot of fun with Velvary, who are our opponent in the ČFL and where Baník played a year ago. We draw on their experience. We also communicate intensively with the police,” explains Mašek.
And how is the village prepared? “We have a good and close relationship with the mayor, who is helpful to us. We solved everything together right away. Some locals are certainly looking forward, some may be a little worried, but I firmly believe that everything will be fine. We do not underestimate anything,” emphasizes Mašek.
The management of the club arranges a smooth course of the game, it will be up to the players to compete with the first league opponent on the pitch. They can go into the match boldly, they dominate the ČFL table in Group B. Zápy won all eight matches and have a score of 17:0, in the previous round of the cup they eliminated the second division Táborsko. “We reach the third round of the cup quite regularly, we have experience with league teams. We have a smaller field, the opponents don’t play very well here,” mentions the official Záp. A year ago, Sigma Olomouc won here 3:1, previously Bohemians, Hradec Králové or Mladá Boleslav played here.
Some Záp players will decide if they will take the day off from work on Wednesday. “We don’t force the boys to do it, some will probably take it. For example, our captain works at my company, I’ll probably give him some relief at work,” plans Mašek. The Zaps need to have their players fresh on Wednesday, with the match starting at 3.30pm.
