Zaporozhye plans to rename one of the city’s largest parks

Gagarin Park in the Kommunarsky district may receive a new name as part of decommunization.

Proposed the new name is Twin Cities Park.

As noted in the explanatory note, this park is one of the largest in Zaporozhye – its area is almost 11 hectares.

There are children’s playgrounds, public service establishments, a place for holding public events with a stage, gazebos, etc.

If a decision is made to rename the park, it is planned to develop separate zones dedicated to the sister cities of Zaporozhye, with which the city actively cooperates in the municipal, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

According to data city ​​hall website, for 2023 Zaporozhye has 8 sister cities: Oberhausen and Magdeburg (Germany), Ashdod (Israel), Lahti (Finland), Belfort (France), Birmingham (UK), Yichang (China) and Linz (Austria).
