Zanetti stands out and Nory fails

The men’s artistic gymnastics team debuted today (24) at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The team is waiting for the completion of the qualifying stage to find out if it will get a place in the next stage, but the situation was difficult. Two-time Olympic medalist – gold in London-2012 and silver in Rio-2016, Arthur Zanetti should calmly qualify for the final of rings, with a note of 14,900. He is striving to be the first ring athlete to win a medal for three consecutive Olympics.

World champion of the fixed bar in 2019 and Olympic ground medalist in Rio-2016, Brazilian Arthur Nory failed in the presentation of the only two devices in which he was trying to seek a final at the Tokyo Olympics. Nory made a presentation with many faults on the fixed bar and, on the ground, he fell sitting at the end of the last step. For one of Brazil’s gymnastics favorites for the medal, the Olympic competition is over.

In all, there were six stages, which started on the horse and went on to rings, jump, parallel bars, fixed bar and floor. In addition to Zanetti, Caio Souza can also compete in the individual finals in vaulting, and Diogo Soares in vaulting. Both can also reach the overall individual decision.

How it was:

start on horse

The person responsible for opening the participation was the young Diogo Soares, who was making his debut at the Olympics. At the end of the presentation, he was thrilled with the result achieved. His grade was 12,800. Soon after, Caio Souza, who also celebrated the performance, scored 13,400.

Francisco Barreto, one of the most experienced members of the delegation, also got off to a good start, but was not so satisfied with the 13,200 mark. Finally, Arthur Nory did not need to make the device in question, after all, the first three got it right in the presentations, totaling 39,400 of overall note on the horse.

Rings

Diogo Soares also opened the presentation in the rings with 13,133 of note. After him, Chico Barreto made 13,200. The third was Caio Souza, who scored the best score for the Brazilian team, with 14,333. With the success of the first three, Nory also did not participate in the device.

Competing individually, Olympic champion Arthur Zanetti competed without counting scores for the team in general. Showing a lot of security, the Brazilian did a clean series and left the device showing satisfaction. His grade was 14,900.

jump

Diogo Soares started with a double pirouette and confidently exited the apparatus. His grade was 14,066. Francisco Barreto was the second to perform. Even with a discount due to an error in the presentation, he made 13,466.

Caio Souza made two jumps to try for a place in the final. It is noteworthy that only the first counts for the team, and he made 14,600. For the individual, the average of the jumps is valid, which was 14,700. Arthur Nory debuted with a double pirouette, had a good jump, but the finish ended up straining his foot a little, and he was left with 13,500.

Parallel bars

Diogo Soares was the one who opened once more for Brazilians. This time, the young man’s performance earned a score of 13,900. Francisco Barreto made an exit with a double pitcher and scored 14,000.

Caio Souza left the series satisfied with the performance. Both during the presentation and on the way out, the Brazilian was very confident in all his movements. His grade was 14,533. As with the first performances, Nory did not participate.

bar Fix

Diogo Soares had a good opening for Brazil on the bar. With a very clean series, the 19-year-old athlete made good moves and also had a good exit. His grade was 13,233. Francisco Barreto left the device satisfied, but he didn’t like the score he received, 13,833.

Caio Souza scored 13,466. After a presentation in which there was an intercurrence, the Brazilian “escaped the bar” at a given moment and was unable to complete a movement. Arthur Nory returned to participate and scored 14,133.

Solo

This time, who started was Francisco Barreto, who scored 13,000. Soon after came Diogo Soares, who did a good series, marked by firmness in his movements. The young Brazilian’s grade was 14,200.

Caio Souza also left the presentation satisfied and scored 13,966. Who closed the night in Brazil was Arthur Nory. Bronze Medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 on the ground, he did a clean series, but in the last move he felt uncomfortable and ended up falling on the finish. His grade was 12,800.
