Zandvoort area ban for 32 rioters | Inland

The area bans last twelve weeks and apply to the whole of Zandvoort. Moolenburgh says that a situation arose on Wednesday evening that is unacceptable. “It must end with groups of young people who come to Zandvoort to riot and cause nuisance here,” said the mayor. “These young people are no longer welcome in Zandvoort this summer.”

Wednesday evening an argument took place at a beach pavilion in Zandvoort. The police asked several groups to leave. A 29-year-old Amsterdammer who refused to do so was arrested, which led to aggression among bystanders. They threw glass at the police. He eventually managed to direct the nuisance to the train station. Several people were injured by flying glass and had to be treated. Later in the evening, a woman threw a bottle at a man’s head at another beach pavilion. The 29-year-old woman from Amsterdam was arrested.

During the disturbances, data of a number of those involved was recorded at the beach entrances. Camera images from Wednesday evening are currently being analyzed for the distribution of more restraining orders, according to the municipality.

Anyone who does not comply with a restraining order is punishable, the municipality warns. The mayor can then also prohibit people from entering Zandvoort for a longer period of time.
