Zan Lorber’s Debut at NK Rogaska: Slovenian Football News Update

Slovenian football is captivated by Zan Lorber’s debut at NK Rogaska. The seventeen-year-old goalkeeper was allowed to start against Olimpija Ljubljana on Saturday to comply with the association’s regulations, but was substituted after twenty seconds.

A rule of the Slovenian association stipulates that clubs at the highest level must field at least one player who is eligible for a call-up as a youth international. This rule was introduced in 2022 to ensure the development of Slovenian talents.

Coach Oskar Drobne missed several young players against Olimpija Ljubljana due to injuries. The trainer also had to do without first goalkeeper Rok Vodisek, who also suffered an injury.

Drobne had to improvise and chose to let Lorber make his debut in professional football. The goalkeeper’s debut was short-lived, as he was substituted after twenty seconds for 29-year-old Bosnian Ajdin Mulalic.

After the remarkable substitution, Rogaska seemed to be on his way to a stunt. The bottom of the Slovenian league led 0-2 against the title candidate for a long time, but just before the end Mulalic scored two more goals.
