Zaluzhny and Kostenko are now honorary citizens of Kyiv – Klitschko presented the awards on May 8

Former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, who was agreed to the post of ambassador to Britain, and the poetess of the sixties Lina Kostenko became honorary citizens of Kyiv. They received such awards on the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II, reported mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

“Today, by the decision of the Kiev City Council, the capital expressed its respect and respect and awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of Kyiv” to two people who are real moral authorities for the people of Kiev and all Ukrainians – Lina Kostenko and Valery Zaluzhny,” Klitschko noted.

The mayor of Kyiv added that Lina Kostenko is the personification of the inflexibility and free and talented Ukrainian soul. Klitschko called the poetess the spirit of freedom and indestructibility. Zaluzhny, according to the mayor, was awarded for his personal services during the defense of Kyiv and the defense of state sovereignty and freedom of Ukraine. Both were presented with awards at Lina Kostenko’s home.
