In Zakopane, before noon, there was a tragic accident on the road through the Stachonie district. As a result of the storm, a tree fell on a moving car and a woman died. The police decided to close the roads towards Morskie Oko, which are threatened by falling trees – if someone doesn’t have to, it’s better not to leave the house – appeals the spokesman of the Zakopane Police, Roman Wieczorek.

Due to mountain winds, the tree fell on a moving car. Despite rescue operations and medical assistance, the young girl’s life could not be saved – said Rafał Bańka from the fire brigade in Zakopane.

Bańka emphasized that there are many firefighting interventions due to strong winds. Yesterday and today, since the morning hours, we have been removing fallen trees, he noted.

The road through Olcza – a district of the city – is completely blocked.
