With typical music and the traditional Yucatecan Cochinita, yesterday afternoon, the mayor of Progreso, Julián Zacarías Curi, and the head of the Ministry of Tourism Development (Sefotur), Michelle Fridman Hirsch welcomed dozens of North Americans and Canadians who prefer to the city progresses as his second home.
In a gathering held in front of the beautiful view of the Chocolate Pier, Zacarías Curi, also accompanied by the consuls, Dorothy Ngutte, from the United States in Mérida and Alie Bourgeois-Charbonneau, from Canada in Cancun, thanked the foreign citizens for their preference and He reiterated his commitment to continue seeing the port as a quiet and decent place to live.
And he stressed that this meeting, “more than a welcome is an approach, because we know that many of you already have your permanent residence in Progreso. Know that we are here, the owner of Sefotur and her servant, to clarify concerns and listen to them, since they are also part of our State, ”said the mayor.
During the reception, there was the participation of exhibitors who provided information related to health care, legal services, moving transition, among others, all of which were in charge of Sefotur.
It is worth mentioning that the welcome was held in this month, since on these dates is when the bulk of visitors is; those who live in Progreso temporarily arrive in November, and many of them could not attend the welcome event. This time it was held more like a “Meet and greet”; a fact that the foreign community recognized and thanked, highlighting that during the four years of Zacarías Curi’s administration they have felt well cared for.
Finally, the mayor thanked the expressions of affection and reiterated his willingness, not only with those who come from the United States and Canada, but also from other countries, who also gathered yesterday.
