Yvelines. Triathlon: two Versaillais at the start of the Ironman of Hawaii

Fabien Combaluzier (42 years old) and Anthony Beyne (39 years old), two friends from Versailles, are participating this weekend in the Ironman World Amateur Championship in Hawaii (United States).

The Versaillais Anthony Beyne, who will celebrate his 40th birthday next month, will be at the start of the legendary Hawaii triathlon.

L’Ironman d’Hawaii what the Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc is to running is to triathlon. By that, mean THE race that fascinates fans of the triple effort all over the world. For twenty years, the event has also become a support for the world distance championship (3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling then a marathon) for professionals and amateurs.

The 2019 edition will take place this Saturday, October 12 in the Pacific (in the night from Saturday to Sunday in France). Among the entrants under the tricolor banner, we find two Versaillais : Fabien Combaluzier (42 years old) and Anthony Beyne (40 years in November). The first is a teacher of physical education and sports (EPS) at the Lycée Marie-Curie. The second is the manager of a cycle store near the Lycée Hoche.

Like them, 2 300 amateurs present at these worlds won their ticket to one of the qualifying races organized during the year. In Nice, last June, for Fabien Combaluzier who is involved in the 40-44 age group, just like, his friend Anthony, third in this age group at the Ironman of South Africa.

For Anthony Beyne, it is a return to Hawaii. His first participation in this legendary race dates back to 2015. He then finished in the 100e place among 35-39 year olds (10h12’52).
