Six new agents have joined the ranks of the municipal police of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
It now has a staff of 50 (37 police officers, 6 video operators, 5 ASVP and 2 administrative staff), making it one of the largest in the department.
She would also be one of the most feminized in Yvelines with a rate of 35% of municipal police officers.
“A much more present police force on the ground”
“In his campaign, the mayor was committed to the security part on several points. There was in particular the strengthening of the municipal police with 6 additional agents (2 police officers and 4 video operators) and the opening of the urban supervision center 24 hours a day. This strengthening is also linked to the extent of our territory and to the creation of the new municipality since January 2019. There was only one agent in Fourqueux that we integrated. There is also the desire for a more present municipal police force on the ground. More present in the hypercentre, where there is economic activity and parking constraints, but also more present in the southern districts. “
Reinforcement of islanding
Thus, in the Saint-Léger and Bel-Air districts, the City will double the number of police officers assigned to islanding missions put in place for more than a year.
There are currently two with specific profiles – one is a former educator – on foot or by bicycle to get in touch with the population.
“They create a link with the population and extract intelligence, it is incredibly effective and it pays a lot”,
In addition to the security aspect, this strengthening of the municipal police is also part of the City’s wish to better meet the expectations of Saint-Germanois by increasing the specialization of officers.
A police organized in three branches
“We also took the opportunity to reorganize the municipal police by” trades / services “, and we must be one of the few to be organized in this way. We cut this font out and really professionalized it. “
The service is organized around the director and his three assistants, each responsible for a particular division.
One is responsible for the “order and execution” office with most of the police under his responsibility.
It organizes all field actions, operations, monitoring of events, etc.
“He has three patrols, one day, one evening and one night. He has 80% of the workforce under his command. “
The second assistant is responsible for the urban supervision center.
She takes care of the deployment of cameras over the city. Today, their number is 125.
It also manages the video verbalization and, this is a first for the city, the terminal on rue de Poissy has become pedestrian since the start of the school year.
“When a delivery man arrives he must state his identity and justify the need for his passage. The other terminals are managed by beeps. It is a desire for this urban supervision center to become a nerve center for the city. Tomorrow, he will perhaps take care of the closing of the public gardens as we do for the terminal. “
As for the third deputy, he is the coordinator of the local committee for security and prevention of delinquency and radicalization (CLSPDR).
“Here too we have specialized people to deal more specifically with everything related to road safety, preventive actions in schools from primary to high school, etc. The police officers are also in contact with all the donors to deal with the problems of neighborhoods, of domestic violence or with the establishments with regard to the school failure. It is a very transversal position at the service of the population. These assistants are the three pillars of the municipal police. “
A shooting simulator to share
Along with this specialization, the City insists on the continuous training of its agents.
It was the first town in Yvelines to be equipped with a virtual shooting simulator. With 1,000 exercises on targets and 900 scenarios, it allows officers to be trained in the most varied situations.
“This simulator has several objectives. The first is to train our police officers in different situations for their safety and that of the citizens because we are often first responders. The second objective, which is a little more distant, is to use it to exchange views, to create links with the national police and other municipal police forces. The idea is to offer days of use of the simulator all together. “
First in Ile-de-France to be equipped with a drone
As for new equipment, the Saint-German municipal police were also the first in Ile-de-France to equip themselves with a drone last January.
Since then, two police officers and a video operator have been trained in its handling.
“This drone is useful for the municipal police but also for other services. We used it to take stock of the water towers. “
Finally, if the Saint-German municipal police have a canine unit made up of two dog handlers, it could perhaps be further strengthened by the creation of an equestrian brigade. The decision could be made in 2022.
