This is the kind of store whose arrival does not go unnoticed. The news of the opening of Aux Merveilleux de Fred, rue du Vieux Marché in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, in mid-July has spread like wildfire… chocolate.
Unfortunately for all gourmets, after two weeks of presence, the pastry shop closed its doors on Sunday August 1 due to holidays. But, good news, Aux Merveilleux de Fred reopens its doors on Tuesday August 17th.
Meringues coated with whipped cream
Remember that the store offers, as its name suggests, marvels, which are meringues coated with whipped cream.
This is a traditional pastry from northern France and Flanders brought up to date since 1985 by Fred Vaucamps.
“A clever mix of meringue and whipped cream, the Merveilleux is the dessert of gourmets,” explains the pastry shop. Fondant and absolutely light, we offer 6 variations: dark chocolate, speculoos, coffee, cherry, praline and caramel. All you have to do is dip a spoon into these Wonders to be able to discover their greedy heart. “
Alongside waffles and ephemeral productions, the brand mentions another of its flagship products on its website: the Kramiek.
Shops around the world
“Kramiek (in Flemish) is a brioche bun filled with raisins. It made its appearance around 1830 in Wallonia and Flanders. This traditional pastry is still very popular in Belgium and in the north of France in particular. It endorses various names: brioche, brioche bread, tartine cake or cracker. Frédéric Vaucamps has fun with this product by giving it different flavors for more fantasy. “
Today, the pastry shops are present in several European capitals including Paris but also across the Atlantic in New York and Toronto and even in Asia, in Tokyo.
