Offering an immersive experience by creating a virtual exhibition is the ambition of the collaboration between the digital arts studios ExperiensS, TremensS and Imer6ia.
In total, seven totems are scattered throughout the town of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. each of them has three QR codes, which each can flash. The originality of this experience is the immersion, made possible thanks to augmented reality.
Yves, a resident of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, came to visit this virtual exhibition and explains how it works.
“You have to flash a QR code, which links to a website and then displays the work in 3D. You have to scan each side of the totem again to see the works and sometimes they don’t come off the screen. “
Three proposed works
In total, three works are presented and each of them is very difficult to describe.
“It looks like a black metal object, but I can’t quite see what it could be. It is a kind of circle which turns on itself ”
After seeing these three works in augmented reality, he is not convinced.
“It’s quite curious, nothing is explained to help the understanding of the works. The idea itself is not uninteresting, but I have the impression that the QR code system is not very developed, it does not work the same every time and on all phones . “
It is indeed recommended to bring a tablet, to be able to make the most of the experience.
Equip yourself with headphones is also preferable, in order to better hear the atmospheres diffused with the work.
This virtual exhibition, offered by the city of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, lasts until August 31.
