YUTZ. Agglomeration community: a “not easy” budget

“We have made the choice not to increase taxes and we demand it,” Pierre Cuny said Thursday evening at Amphy in Yutz, after the presentation of the 2021 budget for the Portes de France-Thionville agglomeration community (CAPFT ) by Mathieu Weis, one of its vice-presidents.

A budget described in the document as being built with prudence and voluntarism. “Although impacted by the health crisis, it will allow community actions and major projects to continue,” commented Mathieu Weis. “And it is not easy since the state continues to dry up endowments,” added President Cuny. “You should know that today colossal projects are opening up concerning waste, the environment and mobility and therefore contributions that will increase. “

The result is an operating section inevitably degraded by the health crisis, the losses in tariff revenue observed in 2020 having been carried over into 2021, pending the end of the crisis and the lifting of the various restrictions impacting the operation of community facilities. € 29 million will be devoted to investments, all budgets combined (water, sanitation, waste, etc.), including € 5.9 million for the Basse-Ham aquatic center alone.

Lower water consumption

“You write in the preamble that this budget was built with prudence and voluntarism. I would have liked it to be also creatively, given the situation we are living, ”said socialist Brigitte Vaïsse. “It is also a unique opportunity to question our operations, with more equity for our territory”, she added, regretting in passing an “increase in sanitation and water prices”.

“The price of water is € 1.70 excluding VAT per m³. We are well below the national average ”, replied Laurent Schultz, vice-president (Yutz). “The increase is 5 cents, which represents on average an increase of 6 € per household per year”, he indicated, noting moreover that “water consumption tends to decrease. The 2021 budget was finally adopted less 3 votes against (Brigitte Vaïsse, Guy Harau and Pascal Landragin) and two abstentions (Lionel Bieder and Sandrine Jean).
