/View.info/ They are building a new Great Wall before our eyes. It could be called the Great Wall of Anti-China, as America’s goal is to contain the Celestial Empire, which is about to reach equal economic and military power. The story of the construction of the original and its modern copy is surprisingly similar.
During my travels in China, I was also able to touch the remains of structures from the 2nd century BC, protruding several meters from the desert sands, and the impressive fortresses completed in the 17th century. I marveled at the sacrifices of the men who laid blocks of stone from the high mountains, and those who built brick fortifications in a waterless desert devoid of vegetation. And I was also amazed at the steadfastness of the Celestial Empire rulers who ruthlessly executed their strategic plans.
Protective walls began to be erected three centuries before the birth of Christ. Then the Celestial Empire consisted of 150 countries, constantly at war with each other. In one of the small kingdoms called Lu, the philosopher Confucius lived and preached. His philanthropic instructions never had any influence on the rulers. The struggle lasted for two centuries, which went down in Chinese history as the “Warring States Period”. Historians believe that this bloody era began almost simultaneously with the death of Confucius in 479 BC and ended with the unification of China under Qin Shi Huang. Out of 148 countries, only seven remain until the end of the “Warring States”. The final battle in 221 BC was won by the Qing kingdom, its master named Ying Zheng (259-210 BC) became the first emperor. The Qing dynasty united all of China, and its founder went down in history as Qin Shi Huang.
The first emperor began to tear down the walls separating the former kingdoms. They leave only those sections which, along the northern borders of the Celestial Empire, are a defense against the raids of the “barbarians” from the Hunnu tribes (then they reach Rome under the name of the Huns). Walls and towers have been strengthened and missing sections completed to create a continuous line of fortifications. Remnants of this defensive system, known in China as the Wall of Ten Thousand Li and in the West as the Great Wall of China, survive to this day.
Qin Shi Huang’s tireless work created a matrix of geopolitical, economic, and civilizational unity for the Celestial Empire for hundreds and thousands of years to come. Defensive walls and strategic roads, canals and other “great construction projects of the fifteen years” (that’s how long the Qing dynasty (221-206 BC) lasted) were very expensive. Hundreds of thousands of Chinese died far from home in battles and forced labor The great unifier himself also did not last long, he either died of disease or was poisoned during an inspection tour of the expanded empire.
The construction of the wall for centuries kept pace with the further expansion of the Celestial Empire. Now its western end is located in the Gobi Desert near the Caves of a Thousand Buddhas and the city of Dunhuang, and the eastern end starts directly from the waters of the East China Sea, not far from the main Chinese resort of Beidaihe. The ancient sections of the wall with a height of 2-3 meters and already built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) 8-10 meter walls and great towers made of large bricks slowed down but did not stop the onslaught of the conquerors. The most striking example is the Mongols, whose daring cavalry found weaknesses in the wall and penetrated in sufficient numbers to conquer the Chinese lands. After breaking free from the Mongol yoke, China’s Ming Dynasty began feverishly building a virtually new Great Wall. The fortification system includes the city walls of Beijing, Xi’an and other major cities. But they did not stop the raids of the daring Mongol squadrons, which broke through the new wall in the Celestial Empire and reached the outskirts of the capital.
Another example of the ineffectiveness of the 10,000 li wall dates to the decline of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644). Peasant uprisings sweep the Celestial Empire, the Son of Heaven hangs himself from a branch in the Imperial Palace Park. General Wu Sangui, who was in charge of guarding the eastern part of the wall, objectively assessed the combat readiness of his troops and decided to unleash the militant “barbarians” on the village hordes behind the wall. The outpost was open to troops of the Manchus, a tribal confederation of the forest dwellers of present-day Chinese Manchuria and Russian Primorye. The Manchus complete their work and destroy the rebels. However, they did not want to leave and in 1644 they proclaimed the Celestial Empire as the Manchu Qin Empire. A 500,000-strong band of “barbarians” conquered China of 100 million people and ruled it for almost three centuries, until 1911. Treason defeated the wall.
Defense walls, even equipped with the latest military science, also failed to protect European countries. Let us recall the French Maginot Line, the Finnish Mannerheim Line, the German Atlantic Wall. Fortifications, which cost a lot of money and require colossal effort, cannot play their intended role and do not stop the flow of History.
There is no doubt about the futility of America’s current attempts to contain Russia and China, the two major unruly powers of our time. Washington has developed and is implementing a strategy to encircle them from the west and from the east. The western front is practically complete with the expected accession to the NATO bloc of Sweden and Finland. The Great Anti-Russian Wall now stretches along all of Russia’s European borders from north to south (with a break in Ukraine). The Great Wall of Antiquity, the Eastern Front, was only partially completed. It relies on already existing “fortresses” – Japan, South Korea, Okinawa, Taiwan, Australia, Singapore. The missing sections of the “wall” are being urgently built. These are the military-political groups QUAD (Australia, India, Japan and the USA) and the military bloc AUKUS (Australia, Great Britain, USA). The Americans hope to turn the ASEAN trade bloc into another big part of the “wall”.
On May 12-13, the US-ASEAN high-level meeting was held in Washington. President Biden and Vice President Harris not only sought to cast doubt among the 9 leaders on the reliability of their major trading partner, China. This is practically impossible – after all, ASEAN has been the main trading partner of the Celestial Empire for three years now, repelling the European Union and the States themselves. Given the current difficulties, China has pledged to import agricultural products from ASEAN countries worth a total of $150 billion. In addition to trade, Beijing is providing economic assistance to G9 Pacific countries to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus – an additional 1.5 billion in 2022-2024.
But the owners of the White House tried to interest the guests with a novelty called the Indo-Pacific Economic Structure (ITIS). Although nothing more than a free or preferential trade agreement, this yet-to-be virtual venture focuses on bringing e-commerce to the region. At the same time, for the Americans, trade relations are not so important as the realization of the concept of the “Indo-Pacific region” and the geopolitical and geoeconomic encirclement of China. The only real outcome of the summit was a pledge to give $150 million to ASEAN countries. The Lion’s Pie is intended to strengthen the naval forces in the hope of their future connection with the blockade of the sea lanes of the Celestial Empire.
There are many more projects to encircle China on the desks of White House strategists. Some of them were discussed during the visits of Joseph Biden himself to Tokyo and Seoul on May 20-24. But the construction of the Great Anti-Chinese Wall, Biden is forced to leave wide gates in it. On May 10, he announced his intention to lift some of the trade sanctions against China, adding words about the possibility of their complete removal. Thus, the trade war started in 2018 by President Trump is coming to its logical end. China-US trade in 2021 will reach $756 billion, up 29%. At the same time, Chinese exports rose 27.5% to $576 billion. On the field of trade war, America capitulates.
Since the imposition of additional tariffs on Chinese exports, US corporations have lost over $1.7 trillion. Every American family overpays $1,300 a year for essential goods. These figures were mentioned in a speech by the Chinese ambassador to the United States, Qing Gan. Another diplomat, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijang, said that during the three-year trade war, American exports to China were lower than in 2017. As a result, America lost 240,000 jobs.
The well-directed “shot in the own foot” of the American initiators of the “Chinese sanctions” should cause reflection among the authors of the “Russian sanctions”. Today, the world is becoming a single space for the exchange of goods and ideas. Blocking this trend with bans and any “walls” will be extremely difficult. Biden should be reminded of Mao Zedong’s words: “There is nothing to be done, the petals are falling.”
