Yuriko Yoshitaka’s Visit to Ishiyama-dera Temple: A Tribute to Murasaki Shikibu | Exclusive Interview with Head Priest

2024.03.30

[To You Shining]Yuriko Yoshitaka visits Ishiyama-dera Temple, which is associated with Murasaki Shikibu, for the first time. “I was deeply moved to be able to see the scenery that Murasaki Shikibu saw.” Also included a conversation with the head of the temple.

Yuriko Yoshitaka, who plays Mahiro Murasaki Shikibu in the taiga drama “Hikaru Kimi e,” visited Ishiyama-dera Temple in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture for the first time on March 30th. It is said that Murasaki Shikibu himself visited Ishiyama-dera. Legend has it that she got the idea for “The Tale of Genji” here. On this day, we were blessed with calm and sunny skies, and after visiting the shrine, Yoshitaka also had a talk with Ryuge Washio, the head priest of the temple.

Ishiyamadera will appear on the air on April 14th.

In the 15th episode of “Hikaru-kun e” (scheduled to be broadcast on April 14th), a scene from Ishiyama-dera Temple will appear (no location filming will take place). Mr. Yoshitaka commented on his impressions as follows.

“Here Mahiro meets an unexpected person,” says Yoshitaka.

“I am now alive and visiting the place where Murasaki Shikibu actually came.I was deeply moved by the thought that I was seeing the same scenery. The towering wollastonite had a huge presence, and I walked up the stone steps. For the first time, I was able to visit a place that I had always wanted to visit, even though I was breathless.I want to remember each moment and return home.
In episode 15, where Ishiyamadera appears, Mahiro meets an unexpected person. I think Mahiro, who has been in the capital for a long time, must have been excited. If I had a chance to visit the shrine now, I would like to see the beauty of Japan in each season, such as the maple leaves in autumn.
I think that the human nature and joy, anger, sadness, and joy of the Heian period have not changed, and I think that the stories are more exciting because there are happy and sad moments. I try to create the role by imagining it and drawing it closer to myself. ”

The conversation with the host will be broadcast in Shiga Prefecture on the evening of April 19th.

The conversation between Mr. Yoshitaka and Washio Zashu will be broadcast on the “Oumi Genji Emaki Special Edition” of “Oumi 630 Nai,” which is broadcast in Shiga Prefecture. Broadcast times will be 6:30pm to 6:59pm on Friday, April 19th. If you live outside of Shiga Prefecture, please check out NHK Plus.
