In Bulgaria, however, this model is far from something new or unknown, since this year the lists of the various parties featured quite a few artists. But so far, only a handful of celebrities around the world have allowed themselves to leave their comfort zone and commit to a political force.
That is why the intention of the singer Yulia Volkova from the former duo “tATu” to enter the Russian parliament came as a surprise to her fans. Recently, the 36-year-old singer unexpectedly announced that she has decided to change her role with a video she shared on YouTube. In the footage, she said she intends to run to represent Vladimir Putin’s ruling party, United Russia, in the town of Ivanovo in the country’s preliminary parliamentary elections this fall.
In the video, viewed over 32,000 times so far, the brunette looks so different that she is unrecognizable. Apparently, over the years she has made the most of the services that plastic surgery can offer to the modern woman, completely erasing the image of that naturally beautiful girl that everyone remembers from the hits “She went crazy” and “We do not catch up”. Now there is no trace of the teenager, who used to beat men’s hearts with ease. Unfortunately, thanks to the large amount of hyaluronic acid in the lips and silicone in the breasts, along with the heavy make-up on the face, her vision is closer to the standard, which in our country is simply defined by the word “chalga”.
However, there is no denying that during her address Julia was dressed in style. She is wearing an elegant black dress following the curves of her body, combined with a snow-white business jacket, and her appearance is complemented by a delicate diamond cross and a pair of earrings with the same gemstone. In her speech, the singer says that one of her wishes is to change the attitude of the government towards the people.
“Yes, I have not dealt with this in the past, but as we know, a person is not born a politician – he becomes one“, she stressed, then focused on the pressing problems in her homeland, including the lack of enough jobs, corruption, poor state infrastructure, etc.
Along with all this, as if to testify to her good and honest intentions, Volkova admits that in the past she also made mistakes and accumulated sins, although she does not specify exactly what nature they are.
Julia is the mother of two children – Victoria and Samir. She gave birth to a daughter in 2004, when she was 19. This is the time when she and her duet partner Lena decided to leave their producer Ivan Shapovalov, founder of “tATu”. She became pregnant by Pavel Sidorov, who was married to another woman, so their relationship fell apart before their daughter was 1 year old. In 2007, she gave birth to Samir – the result of her love affair with businessman Parviz Yasinov, who is also her husband. The couple married in the United Arab Emirates and Julia even converted to Islam. Three years after her son’s arrival, however, she divorced her husband and began a relationship with another man who is said to have problems with the law.
In 2016, she admitted that she had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer four years earlier and that her laryngeal nerve had been affected during surgery to remove the tumor, nearly depriving her of her voice. The singer said that she then underwent 2 more surgeries in Germany to recover, but they proved ineffective. That’s why in 2014 she made a third in Seoul, which improved his condition, but did not return him to his previous sound.
The final end of “tATu” came in 2011, when the girls posted on their official website that they were splitting up due to conflicts between them and each of them will build a solo career. So after 12 years of working together, Julia and Lena take different paths.
