Admiral Yudo Margono open voice on pressure from some parties calling for the revocation of military rank Titular lieutenant colonel (lieutenant colonel). TNI AD Deddy Corbuzier which was previously held by Defense Minister (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto.
Yudo, who will soon replace TNI commander General Andika Perkasa, said he must first coordinate with Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General Dudung Abdurachman.
“Later we will ask the Army Chief of Staff first, because that is why the proposal was initiated by the Chief of Staff, presented to the TNI commander and only then was it approved,” Yudo told the parliament complex , Tuesday (13/12 ).
Yudo explained that title is a rank that is given to someone who is needed for temporary purposes, who is received to perform tasks related to the title bestowed. According to him, the titular title can be given to non-military civilians.
He said that in the performance of his duties, Deddy received an allowance. Celebrities also don’t need to go to work as often as needed. Yudo also left a message so Deddy could bring progress for the TNI.
“You have to bring a good name, the progress of the TNI. For the progress of the TNI to be a lot, with all the professionals, they must be able to bring progress to the TNI,” he said.
Several parties had previously proposed that the TNI revoke Deddy Corbuzier’s title of titular lieutenant colonel. They questioned the urgency of giving Deddy military title.
PDIP Tubagus (TB) Fraction DPR Commission I member Hasanuddin admitted that he could not assess the urgency of awarding the rank because it fell under the authority of the MoD.
However, he wondered if Deddy’s duties could not be performed by TNI soldiers.
The retired major general of the TNI explained that the title rank was indeed permitted with the lowest rank up to two-star generals. However, in several cases, Tubagus said, the award of a titular rank is usually given to civilians who play a role in TNI duties. Even their positions could not be performed by ordinary warriors.
A spokesman for Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said that being awarded the rank of titular lieutenant colonel Deddy was related to his ability to communicate on social media to spread messages of nationality.
According to Dahnil, Deddy’s skill will help TNI deliver a national message to the public.
