A queen among the stars.
Tonight, Yseult performed Frank Sinatra’s classic “My Way” in a breathtaking finale. Her performance will remain in our memory as one of the most beautiful of this closing ceremony. Yseult’s career, winner of the Female Revelation Award at the Victoires de la Musique in 2021, took on an extra dimension this Sunday evening.

“The road is long as a black woman, as a fat woman.” Far from the traditional thanks, these words, punctuated with tears and pronounced after receiving her award, had left their mark, after her performance of her title “Corps”, accompanied by dancers of all body types, far from the slender silhouettes of the usual specifications.
This live performance completes the revenge of an artist who was almost crushed by the music industry. The story is classic. In 2014, the year she turned 20, the novice singer reached the final of the TV talent show New Starwithout winning. She then signed a contract with a record company and a first album (Yseult) was released in a hurry in 2015.
Yseult Onguenet, her name in the city, says she has been formatted and does not recognize herself in it. Success is not there and a gray period follows, between depression, doubt and composition for others (like the singer Jenifer, herself from the TV talent show Star Academy). She then started from scratch, created her own label (YYY), taking on the roles of manager, producer, artistic director.

Today, at 29, the words “freedom, independence” come back in his speeches. Since 2019 and his mini-album Noirthe sensible outfits are put away in the closet. In the video for “BAD BOY” (2020), Yseult stages her “fantasy” de shibari, bondage japonais. “I wanted it to exude audacity, vulnerability, passion, sincerity and eroticism.”she presents at the time on her YouTube channel. “This work is an open letter to the French music industry, there is still time to take risks and excite the public’s attention”she added.
In the summer of 2024, she was back at the top of the world charts with “Alibi”, a collaborative track featuring megastars Pabllo Vittar, a drag queen from Brazil who has already sung with Lady Gaga, and Sevdaliza, a Dutch-Iranian singer. The song is comfortably in the global top 50 on Spotify, the market leader in music platforms. Apart from this reggaeton-tinged hit, Yseult has also released solo tracks, including a surprising techno track, “BITCH YOU COULD NEVER”, and a more pop song, “SUICIDE”, which announce a new project, MENTALscheduled for September 2024.
