YouTube’s New Strategy to Combat Adblockers and Encourage YouTube Premium Subscription

If you usually use an adblock while browsing YouTube, it may stop working in the near future.

According to information from the PCGamerYouTube is testing a new strategy aimed at discouraging the use of ad blockers and which is already in place in some parts of the world.

In short, if an adblock is detected by the platform, you will be forced to place YouTube on authorized sites or purchase YouTube Premium.

Reddit user_n_Me posted a screenshot with an ominous warning that states “video player will be blocked after three videos”; on that same screen, you can also read that ads help YouTube remain free for everyone and that you can pay for Premium to avoid them.

Therefore, after this warning, you have up to three videos to choose one of these two actions and, subsequently, you should not be able to watch any more videos.

It is not clear how long you will not be able to access the videos, but everything indicates that you will have to disable the ad blocker or subscribe to YouTube Premium if you want to continue watching videos on the platform.

We will see if more information is given about this new YouTube strategy in the future.

YouTube cracking down on if you’re not paying them to block the ads, it hurts me, and hurt you.
