The platform will also allow labels to remove videos copying artists using artificial intelligence.
The video distribution platform YouTube announced, this Tuesday, November 14, the upcoming possibility of requesting the removal of impostures generated by artificial intelligence, adding that videos will also soon have to specify when they have this type of content.
These new rules are due to come into force in the coming months amid fears that videos containing elements generated by artificial intelligence could be used for electoral manipulation, scams or putting people in false situations (films pornographic, for example).
Targeted parodies
“We will make it possible to request the removal of content generated by artificial intelligence or other content manipulated to simulate an identifiable person, including their face and voice,” said Emily Moxley and Jennifer Flannery O’Connor, vice presidents of product management, in a blog post.
The criteria taken into account to request a withdrawal will relate in particular to the differentiation between parodies and videos showing real people who can be identified, indicated the platform owned by Alphabet.
It will also require creators to clearly indicate when realistic content has been created using artificial intelligence so that people viewing it are notified with a specific display.
“This could be an AI-created video that realistically depicts an event that never happened or content showing someone saying or doing something that they didn’t say or do “, added the two officials.
In prevention of elections
“This is particularly important in cases where the content addresses sensitive subjects such as elections, conflicts, public health crises or personalities,” they noted.
Failure to comply with these policies will result in content being removed from YouTube or suspended from the ad revenue sharing program.
YouTube also plans to allow the music industry to request the removal of content created to copy an artist’s style.
Compulsory indication
Meta (Facebook, Instagram) announced on November 8 that it would require political campaigns to be transparent about the use of AI in advertisements from 2024.
“Advertisers will be required to disclose whenever an election, political or social issue advertisement contains a photorealistic image or video, or realistic audio, that has been digitally created or altered to depict a real person saying or doing something she didn’t say or do,” he said.
Users of Meta platforms will be informed of the presence of such content.
